Case Study: Rear Mounted Sweeper to suit the John Deere 2038R
One solution for mounting a sweeper to your John Deere 2 Series tractor.
Installing a rear-mounted sweeper onto John Deere 2 series tractor
The John Deere 2 series is a very popular tractor, ideal for doing jobs around sites like holiday parks, private estates and urban areas. We often get asked to fit a sweeper to this great little machine. If you are looking for a sweeper to clear debris and moss, look after an artificial surface or sweep your access roads, then a rear PTO driven sweeper is just what you need.
Kersten develop some of the most compact sweepers on the market, in the form of the HKM range.
This PTO driven sweeper is available in two widths; 1.25m and 1.5m with an impressive, but not power hungry 40cm diameter brush.
The 5-row spiral brush punches well above it's weight, with the configuration capable of moving considerable volumes of heavy material.
It is the perfect companion to your John Deere.
The items used in this project were as follows:
- HKM 15040 M 125cm rear mounted Sweeper
- SSB 15040 Collector box
- HB-SSB-HFKM Hydraulic collector box opening
- ASH 5040 M Gully Brush
The HKM 40 range can be easily adjusted for height and the angle can be adjusted using a manual setting bar, or an optional hydraulic cylinder.
In the kit above we have used a hydraulic opening cylinder for the collector box. It can also be set up to manually open with a rope from the seat.
Alternatives;
It is also possible to mount a sweeper to the front of the John Deere 2038R and other 2 series models. However, the PTO version cannot be used at the same time as a mid mounted deck and requires some time to change over. Alternatively you can use a hydraulic front sweeper on a front linkage.
Kersten sweepers are great at maintaining hard surfaces by removing detritus and debris which reduces weed growth and is fundamental to Integrated weed management.
